La Serena, Chile
Our expert guides will take you on a tour of La Serena and Coquimbo, two of the most important cities in Chile, which are full of incredible stories about pirate attacks and gardens that bloom in the middle of the desert. We will visit all of the must-see sites such as the Recova, a heritage building where you will find the city's most delicious dishes, as well as churches and beautiful colonial architecture which have remained intact despite the many earthquakes and passage of time.
We will enter La Serena on Avenue Francisco de Aguirre, and head towards the Japanese garden and lighthouse of La Serena - the city's main symbol built between 1951 and 1953. We'll continue along Av. Del Mar and the waterfront which will take us to Coquimbo. In Coquimbo, we will visit the port and the English neighborhood with its historical houses dating back the beginning of the 19th century. We will also see the Fuerte Lambert viewpoint, a true relic of the port, built during the second half of the 17th century and nicknamed Pelican Point when Corsairs on board their galleons sailed the coasts of northern Chile, instilling fear in the Chilean people.
We will continue up the hills towards Cruz del Milenio, a memorial to the Christian faith built on Vigía Hill. Next, we'll visit Guayacán, a small port in Coquimbo where ships full of oil and iron embark on their journeys overlooking La Herradura beach, a beautiful bay where we will have a tasty lunch of local cuisine.
Join us as we delve into the past of two of Chile's most important cities!
