Our Expert Guide will take you on a complete expedition that combines, over the course of 55 km, the most beautiful landscapes with the best rafting on Manso River. We'll prepare out boats with everything we'll need for these three days of adventure, and delve deep into the Manso, where our only contact will be with some coastal settlers. As the journey continues, we'll set up camp on the riverbank, equipped with everything necessary to comfortably spend the night in this remote location.
On the first day, we will explore Steffen Lake. After a brief chat from our head-guide, we will descend on the river, while being surrounded by tall mountains and impressive vegetation. After paddling for awhile, we'll break for lunch, before continuing down the rapids. From here, the Manso becomes increasingly exciting. Uvasal, Banda de Billar, Diente de Hipopótamo, Montaña Rusa and Roca Magnética are some of the rapids that we will venture through this day (Class II - III). We will see where the Manso joins Villegas River, as the river turns toward the west, forming the great Lower Manso Valley, with magnificent views of Mount Bastion and Ventisquero.
During the second day, after a hearty breakfast, we will paddle through a quiet section of the river that offers great fishing spots. Around midday, we'll pass Santa Elena Hill, which we'll circle during our two days of rafting. When we arrive to where the river merges with the Foyel, we'll observe Ventisquero's Glacier (one of the most important in the area). That night we will camp at the foot of the imposing Mount Bastion on the John family property, where we'll plan a barbecue.
The next morning, after breakfast, we'll get ready to raft the last of the Manso rapids in Argentine territory. These are some of the best rapids for rafting in the region. Here, the Manso becomes more impetuous. We'll paddle through exciting rapids in narrow canyons while overlooking the area's lush vegetation: Cajón de Terciopelo, Agujero de Ozono, Gritá y doblá, and Tobogancito, are some of the rapids in this stretch of the river. Upon reaching the Chilean boarder, we will complete our journey.
We'll return to the John family property, where the unmistakable aroma of a Patagonian barbecue will invite us to take a seat at the table. We will also be able to enjoy delicious salads and homemade desserts. Our meals will be carefully prepared by the family, with products grown in their own fields. After filling our stomachs, we'll return to Bariloche.
